  1. jet: A long, narrow stream of
  2. material moving at high velocity. Jets
  3. flow from a variety of astronomical
  4. objects, including forming stars,
  5. certain types of nebulae, and some
  6. very energetic galaxies. Jets can
  7. extend many millions of kilometers
  8. and are among the most spectacular
  9. sights in the universe. Jets seen
  10. primarily at radio wavelengths are
  11. called radio jets and may be
  12. responsible for the large radio lobes
  13. observed in radio galaxies and other
  14. strong radio sources.
